What is the TiBaKalanga Festival?

The TiBaKalanga Festival is more than an event. It is a celebration of heritage, community, memory and future generations coming together in one place.

Taking place on 15 & 16 August 2026 in the Bulilima area of Zimbabwe, the festival brings together families, elders, young people, performers, runners, craftspeople, food makers and community leaders for two days of culture, activity and shared pride.

At its heart, the TiBaKalanga Festival exists to celebrate and preserve Kalanga identity — not only through performance and ceremony, but through participation.

The programme includes the 10K Run, the Seniors Walk, and the Under-12s Half-kilometre Race. The Traditional Kalanga Food Competition celebrates local knowledge, recipes and culinary traditions across four categories: hot traditional meals, cold or prepared dishes, meat dishes and traditional beverages.

The festival will also host the Miss TiBaKalanga Pageant — a cultural pageant celebrating confidence, heritage, dignity and leadership among young women from across the community.
