Youth Empowerment Workshops – A Successful First Day

The Youth Empowerment Skills Workshops at the TG Silundika Cultural Community Centre (TGSCCC) successfully kicked off this weekend, bringing together young participants from the community to learn practical creative skills.
The workshops are designed to empower young people by providing hands-on training in traditional crafts and practical skills that can support creativity, confidence, and future opportunities.
Strong Participation from the Community
We were delighted to welcome a great group of young participants who joined the programme to learn new skills and connect with others.
On the first day, participants took part in three different training sessions:
-
Beadwork: 12 participants
-
Dressmaking: 6 participants
-
Basketry: 4 participants
Throughout the day, the training sessions were filled with enthusiasm, concentration, and creativity. Participants were able to work closely with facilitators while learning the foundations of each craft.
Learning Through Hands-On Experience
From carefully threading beads into beautiful designs, to learning sewing techniques and exploring the art of basket weaving, the workshops created an engaging learning environment where participants could develop their skills step by step.
The programme focuses not only on teaching practical techniques but also on building confidence and encouraging young people to explore their talents.
Strengthening Community and Opportunity
At TGSCCC, youth empowerment is a key part of our mission. By providing opportunities for skills development, we aim to support young people in discovering their potential while preserving important cultural crafts.
The first day of the programme has already shown the positive impact these workshops can have, and we look forward to continuing the learning journey with participants.
We thank everyone who participated and supported this initiative.
