This year, the TiBaKalanga Festival is extra special, as we celebrating the 10-year anniversary of our beloved cultural community center. Over the past decade, we’ve built a vibrant space for connection, growth, and the preservation of Kalanga heritage, and this milestone gives us all the more reason to rejoice together.

A Weekend to Remember

Taking place on the weekend of March 29th and 30th, 2025, the festival will be a lively blend of tradition and innovation, showcasing the best of Kalanga culture while bringing our community closer than ever. Over two days, attendees will immerse themselves in a rich program filled with creative workshops, breathtaking performances, and exciting activities for all ages.

Day 1 will start early with a 10K Run, a Seniors’ Walk, and a ½ K race for children under 12. Following this energetic start, participants will gather for a prize-giving ceremony accompanied by live music performances. Lunchtime will bring the community together over shared meals, while the afternoon will feature the much-anticipated Kalanga Traditional Food Culinary Competition. The day will conclude with another prize-giving ceremony, traditional dancing, and poetry performances that celebrate the richness of Kalanga artistry.

Day 2 will bring the spotlight to the Miss TiBaKalanga Beauty Pageant. The competition will highlight various categories, including introductions, sports, and talent, captivating the audience throughout the morning. After a break for lunch and entertainment, the pageant will resume with participants showcasing their traditional wear and evening gowns. A heartfelt video message from the current Miss TiBaKalanga will add a personal touch before the crowning of the new Miss TiBaKalanga. From a small idea to a thriving cultural hub, the Kalanga Cultural Community Center has become a cornerstone of unity, learning, and pride. To commemorate the occasion, a special photo exhibit will be unveiled, showcasing memorable moments from the past 10 years. It will be a touching reminder of the incredible journey we have shared.

A Future Full of Possibilities

While the festival marks a significant milestone, it also lays the groundwork for what’s to come. With each passing year, we aim to grow stronger as a community, embracing both tradition and progress. We’re excited to keep building a legacy that honors our roots while inspiring future generations.
