Hands-On Skills Workshop for Youth: Basketry, Beadmaking, Sewing

The TG Silundika Cultural Community Centre (TGSCCC) is proud to launch the 2026 Youth Skills Training Programme, a two-day practical workshop designed to empower young people with valuable creative and entrepreneurial skills.

This initiative forms part of our ongoing Youth Empowerment Programme, which focuses on providing opportunities for young people to learn hands-on skills, build confidence, and explore potential income-generating activities.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced community facilitators while developing practical craft skills that can be used both creatively and professionally.

Workshop Details

Dates:
14 & 15 March 2026

Time:
9:00 am – 5:00 pm (both days)

Eligibility:
Open to anyone under 35 years of age

Registration Fee:
R20 per participant

Skills Covered

  • Basketry
    Learn traditional weaving techniques and how to create beautiful and functional baskets.
  • Beadmaking
    Explore creative bead design and jewellery-making techniques.
  • Sewing / Dressmaking
    Develop practical sewing skills and learn the basics of garment construction.

Workshop Facilitators

The workshops will be facilitated by experienced members of the community:
